General Cleaning Tips:

  • Wash baseboards, door sealings, window sills, doors, and walls
  • Vacuum and wash vents
  • Wash window treatments (drapes, etc.)
  • Dust blinds
  • Wipe Windows
  • Dust and shine overhead lights – replace burnt light bulbs
  • Dust and/or vacuum light fixtures and lamp shades

Kitchen

  • Start by clearing off any dirty dishes, pots, and pans, wiping down the countertops to remove crumbs and spills.
  • Clean the sink and faucet with a scrub brush and a mild abrasive cleaner to remove any grime or stains.
  • Wipe down all appliances with a damp cloth or sponge. Pay special attention to the handles and control panels. Deep clean your fridge.
  • Clean the stovetop and oven with a non-abrasive cleaner, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Remove any baked-on spills or grease buildup.
  • Sweep or vacuum the floor, paying extra attention to any corners or crevices where debris can accumulate.
  • Mop the floor with a cleaning solution appropriate for the type of flooring. Avoid using too much water as this can damage wood or laminate floors.
  • Wash any dishes, pots, and pans or load them into your dishwasher.

Living Room

  • Start by decluttering the room. Put away any items that don’t belong in the living room and organize any loose papers, books or magazines.
  • Dust all surfaces, including shelves, tables, and picture frames, with a microfiber cloth or duster. Remember to dust your decor, lamps or electronics.
  • Vacuum or sweep the floor, and spot-clean any stains. Pay extra attention to areas where your guests or family frequently walk or sit, such as near the couch or armchair.
  • Vacuum upholstered furniture or use a lint roller to remove any debris or pet hair.
  • Clean any mirrors, windows or glass surfaces with a glass cleaner and a clean cloth.
  • Use a damp cloth to wipe down any hard surfaces, such as tables, chairs, and your TV stand.

Bathroom(s)

  • Wipe down all surfaces with a microfiber cloth or paper towel, including the sink, countertop, toilet seat, and any fixtures.
  • Use a toilet bowl cleaner to clean the inside of the toilet bowl, and a scrub brush to remove any stains.
  • Spray disinfectant on all surfaces, including the toilet bowl, sink, and shower walls. Allow the disinfectant to sit for the recommended amount of time (usually around 5 minutes) before wiping it away with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  • Use a separate cloth or paper towel to clean the floor. Sweep or vacuum up any debris first, then mop with a disinfectant solution.
  • Clean the shower or tub with a non-abrasive cleaner, and rinse thoroughly with water. We recommend using a squeegee to remove excess water and prevent mold growth if you have one. Otherwise, this tip is optional.
  • Remember to clean mirrors and windows with a glass cleaner and a clean cloth.

Bedroom

  • Make up your bed. Remove all the linens and wash them if necessary, then replace them with fresh ones. Fluff up the pillows.
  • Clear off any clutter from the surfaces, such as nightstands, dressers, and shelves. Put away any items that don’t belong in the bedroom.
  • Dust all surfaces with a microfiber cloth or duster. Remember to dust any decor, lamps, or electronics.
  • Vacuum or sweep the floor, paying extra attention to any corners or edges where dust and debris can accumulate. Spot clean any stains or spills.
  • Clean any mirrors, windows, or glass surfaces with a glass cleaner and a clean cloth.
  • Wipe down any hard surfaces, such as dressers or nightstands, with a damp cloth. Use a wood or furniture polish to restore the shine to wooden surfaces.
  • Fluff up any pillows or cushions.
  • Remember to use cleaning products and tools appropriate for the surfaces you are cleaning. Also, don’t forget to wash any bedding, including sheets, pillowcases, and blankets, on a regular basis to keep the bedroom fresh and clean.
